Batik is the art of decorating textiles with wax and dye. To those who know batik, it is “a form of intangible heritage.”
Although the origin of batik is really hard to tell. Some have tied batik to the bible, other tie it to the Quran while other tie it to Buddhism . One thing is for certain, having a piece of batik is having something dignifying, sacred and truly special. Even in our time, batik proves to be a sacred style of art because of the rarity in producers of the craft. Batik is a treasured art form and to keep the production alive we need to support batik producers all over the world.
